The Program Director is responsible for the smooth operation of all infants-toddlers programs and activities at La Distinction, which may include out-of-school age care. 

Reports to: Chief Executive Director

Responsibilities 

• Supervise teachers and childcare personnel and delegate responsibilities
• Hire and train new staff members on center policies and procedures
• Provide professional development opportunities for staff
• Establish policies and communicate them to staff and parents
• Maintain documentations and records of children enrollment and staff attendance
• Meet with prospective parents to explain the enrollment process
• Develop educational and cultural programs and standards for children and families
• Oversee and review the center educational curriculum and provide guidance to staff
• Act as a liaison in communicating with staff, parents and children
• Meet with parents and staff to discuss students’ progress and provide referrals as needed
• Ensure that facilities are maintained and cleaned according to state regulations
• Develop marketing strategies to promote the center’s program and activities
• Uphold excellence throughout all programs and communication with patrons.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or related field (Masters Preferred)

Director EEC Certification preferred 

At least 3 years experience of classroom teaching experience

2 to 5 years of experience managing a childcare facility

Up-to-date knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care policies

Responsibilities

• Develop an ongoing knowledge in whole-child education and attend professional development trainings as needed
• Assume the responsibility of the center operation in the absence of the Director, as needed.
• Create lesson plans for daily activities using a whole-child approach to learning
• Develop strategies to promote young child involvement in activities 
• Foster a positive and healthy learning environment for every child and staff 
• Provide and assist support staff with daily care such as feeding and diapering
• Ensure the classroom and outdoor space are  in a clean and safe condition at all times
• Read stories in English, French or Creole to the children as a group activity 
• Develop an inclusive environment where all children’s culture and languages are included in lessons plans and activities
• Encourage curiosity and self-expression while teaching children healthy ways to self-express.
• Maintain regular communication with parents  regarding child development and progress daily through the communication app
• Participate in program curriculum development meetings

Required Qualifications:

• EEC Certification preferred 
• Prior experience working with children
• Up to date immunizations
• Must pass a background check
• CPR and First Aid Certified
• Ability to stand and move around for long hours at a time while teachingAssociate or

36 months of experience if you have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.,or •  27 months of experience if you have a Certificate Program degree such as a CDA, community college, or Montessori credential, or •  18 months of experience if you have an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or • 9 months of experience if you have a Bachelor or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

• Lead spiritual community circle in the morning 
• Encourage creative thinking and learning
• Update parents regarding child development and progress daily through the communication app
• Participate in program curriculum development meetings

Required Qualifications:

• EEC Certified preferred ( program is willing to provide training)
• Prior experience working with children
• Up to date immunizations
• Must pass a background check
• CPR and First Aid Certified
• Reliable transportation 
• Strong knowledge of educational techniques for teaching young children
• Patient and supportive approach to the learning process
• Enthusiastic, encouraging and reliable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to stand and move around for long hours at a time while teaching

High School Diploma, Vocational

Associate or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or related field

Multilingual (English, French, Creole)

(Part-time, 10 to 30 hours per week, Pay Range $15 to $17/hour)
